Our Journey

Finding Purpose in Ghana

After years of volunteering in youth and women empowerment projects in the UK, our journey shifted unexpectedly in October 2021 during a trip to Ghana. This trip became significant as Richelle Bailey (now CEO of Passing The Baton CIC) collaborated with local NGOs and engaged in a community project within weeks.

The transformative moment occurred during a Health and Wellbeing session in Akosombo, where she engaged with 100 eager girls and their Youth Workers. This experience, marked by the girls' thirst for knowledge, deeply impacted Richelle. Three years later, during her fifth trip to Ghana which was supported by local regional directors, the mission continued to focus on empowerment through direct training, redistributing resources, gifting, and creating international engagement opportunities.

Everything that was witnessed in Ghana reminded her of the challenges faced by individuals in the UK, particularly those dealing with youth, homelessness, refugees, asylum seekers, and abused women. The experience in Ghana, upon her return in January 2023, became a catalyst for change, fuelling a newfound passion to make a greater impact in addressing these issues.

The turning point occurred when life coach Tony Dada, CEO of Dada Success Academy, introduced Sharon Gitau and Richelle Bailey. Their shared passion, vision, values, and commitment to empowerment created a strong synergy. Within a week of meeting, they began discussions about founding a company to further their mission, leading to the creation of Passing The Baton CIC. The organisation focuses on developing and delivering tailored training packages, programs, and partnerships to empower communities at local, national, and international levels.

At Passing The Baton CIC, the team is united by a belief in the power of knowledge, compassion, and collaboration. Their mission is to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those who need it most, regardless of their location.
